Pack sizes are the specific formats you sell a product in. They represent what a customer actually purchases — and what you quote against and set prices against. Each pack size is a catalogue item linked to a product. A single product can have multiple pack sizes.

How pack sizes are used

Quoting

When a customer requests a quote (RFQ), they select a specific pack size. Your quote is submitted against that pack size. If a customer needs pricing for multiple formats, each one is a separate line on the request.

Pricing

When you send a price offer or set up a monthly price list, prices are set at the pack size level. A product priced at $5.00/kg in a 200L drum may have a different price in a 1000L IBC. Each pack size carries its own pricing.

Ordering

When a customer places an order, they order a specific pack size. The pack size determines what gets shipped — the volume, the unit of measure and the packaging.

ERP alignment

Pack sizes typically map to item codes in your ERP system. Keeping these consistent means orders flow through cleanly between ChemCloud and your internal systems.

Example

A product like Industrial Methylated Spirits 95% might have three pack sizes:

20LDrum
200LDrum
1000LIBC
Each of these is a separate catalogue item that customers can request quotes for, receive prices on and order.
