# How to add a pack size

> Add a pack size to a product so buyers can request quotes for the formats you sell

This guide shows you how to add a pack size (catalogue item) to an existing product. Pack sizes represent the specific formats you sell a product in.

***

## Add a pack size

1. Navigate to **Products** from the main menu
2. Click into the product you want to add a pack size for
3. Click **New Catalogue Item**
4. Enter the details:
   * **Volume** - the quantity per pack (e.g., 200)
   * **Unit of Measure** - the unit (e.g., kg, L)
   * **Pack Size** - the packaging type (e.g., Drum, IBC, Bag)
5. Click **Save**

***

## When to use this

Add pack sizes when you sell the same product in different formats. For example, you might sell Industrial Methylated Spirits in:

* 20L drums
* 200L drums
* 1000L IBCs

Each of these is a separate catalogue item under the same product.

## Tips

* **Align with your ERP** - pack sizes typically map to item codes in your ERP system. Use the same volume and unit of measure so orders flow through cleanly
* **Add all available formats** - if a buyer can't find the pack size they need, they may not request a quote at all
* **Check with your logistics team** - make sure the pack sizes you list reflect what you can actually ship
